GLMS Webinar Series I: Intro to HyperSpy

Great Lakes Microscopy Society Webinar Series Part 1: Introduction to HyperSpy

Abstract: The HyperSpy package is a powerful analysis tool for processing all types of data collected from electron microscopes.  It covers a wide range of different techniques with a large number of extension packages.  Getting started, however, can be a bit daunting.  In this Webinar, we will cover the basics of HyperSpy, talk about how data is loaded, tricks for visualizing data, common pitfalls when getting started and then get you interacting with any data you might have.

Presenter: Dr. Carter Francis, Direct Electron

Carter Francis is a Research and Development Scientist working with Direct Electron to developing software and hardware for materials science research.  He did his PhD under Prof. Paul Voyles at UW Madison.  There his work was on characterization of disordered materials using 4D STEM and in situ 4D STEM.  In addition to working for Direct Electron, Carter is a member of the HyperSpy steering council and is the lead developer for the 4D STEM analysis package pyxem.
