Time:
Jan 29, 2026 12:00 PM EST
Abstract:
The HyperSpy package is a powerful analysis tool for processing all types of data collected from electron microscopes. It covers a wide range of different techniques with a large number of extension packages. Part 2 of this webinar series on HyperSpy will cover the use of eXSpy, a Python package extending the functionality for multi-dimensional data analysis provided by the HyperSpy library. It is aimed at helping with the analysis of X-ray Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) and Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS).
Presenter: Dr. Carter Francis, Direct Electron
Carter Francis is a Research and Development Scientist working with Direct Electron to developing software and hardware for materials science research. He did his PhD under Prof. Paul Voyles at UW Madison. There his work was on characterization of disordered materials using 4D STEM and in situ 4D STEM. In addition to working for Direct Electron, Carter is a member of the HyperSpy steering council and is the lead developer for the 4D STEM analysis package pyxem.
